The Launceston Tornadoes are a female-only semi-professional basketball club that proudly competes in the National Basketball League 1 (NBL1).

The NBL1 is split into the following divisions: North, South, East, West and Central. Our club compete in the “NBL1 South” division of the NBL1 against teams from Tasmania, Victoria and South Australia.

With a rich competitive history dating back to 1993, our club has become a cherished pillar in the community of Northern Tasmania, uniting players, supporters, volunteers and partners all across Tasmania in a shared passion for the game.

Our vibrant club, boasting close to 6,000 dedicated Facebook supporters, is a testament to the impact that the Tornadoes have had over the years.

As a key entertainer in the local sports scene, we prioritise community engagement through initiatives such as school visits and delivery of youth clinics which inspire the younger generation to embrace the spirit of basketball. Our commitment to excellence extends beyond the court, creating lasting impressions and forging strong relationships within the community.
